2019-20 Season

Jr. NBA

High School League

We are excited to announce a pair of initiatives for the 2019-20 season.

First, the Jr NBA – Canada Basketball’s comprehensive development grassroots program – is coming to the KVBA.

Beginning in October, the program will be available for all house league players in the puppy, under 8, under 10 and under 12 divisions.

Each player will receive an Under Armour Jr. NBA dry fit t-shirt and their own ball as well as a certificate to end the season. In addition, the program covers each player’s insurance.

The cross-Canada program aims to have cohesive development at the youngest levels of play across Canada and as such, it features a series of 45-to-75 minute lesson plans that can be adapted depending on the ages and skill levels of the players.

Each lesson has various tiers as well and all our coaches will have access to these step-by-step plans for their season ahead. The plans are available on line and are perfect for new coaches just beginning the sport to those with experience looking to adapt their approach.

For an example of the t-shirt and sizing, please visit this link.

Craig Arbeau, our technical director, will oversee the implementation of the program this season.
Craig is a veteran coach in our association and last year served as the under 8 house league director.

For more information on the program, please visit http://www.jrnba.ca/.

Second, are you a high school student interested in playing some basketball?

KVBA is organizing weekly sessions for those in high school who are not playing on a school team and who just want to play some ball. No experience necessary. We are working on the details, which will depend on interest, but we anticipate it will operate once a week.

Sue Quirion, our U15 director, will be the contact for the division, which we are calling the U19 Division. For more information on this initiative, email us at info@kvba.ca.

If you are interested in volunteering with either of these exciting initiatives, or with any of our other programs, please contact us at info@kvba.ca.

Registration for the 2019-20 KVBA season is now open.

The fees for the season are $165, with the exception of Puppy - $100 and High School - $75.

Rep players will pay an additional fee once they make their respective teams following tryouts.
